With ease, you can convert nearly every bicycle into an electric one within seconds and without any previous installations needed. ease complies with existing regulations and transforms your bicycle into a smart vehicle, giving you electric assistance when you need it.
ease taps into existing good quality bicycles and offers an easy and convenient way of turning them into electric bicycles.
A special friction roller powers your bicycle at its rear tire - where it is normally powered. Attachments such as mudguards or pannier racks are no obstacles for its usage.
An integrated mounting system allows ease to be quickly and safely attached to and detached from your bicycle - without the need of any tool.
ease doesn't need fixed attachments such as sensors or brackets meaning it leaves no marks on your bicycle. The device is completely standalone, wireless and doesn't require any prior installation.
ease focuses on medium ranges allowing it to come in a lightweight and compact form, especially when folded.
An optical sensing system detects the cyclist’s motion, ensuring full compliance with existing laws and regulations.

As an avid cyclist, Felix Roemer was always striving for an easier and less exhausting way of commuting within Singapore’s metropolitan region. The research project of an easily detachable electric drive unit for off-the-shelf bicycles was then initialized by Felix in cooperation with the joint institute, TUMCREATE, in Singapore.
Research was conducted in two scientific papers. Marius Mrosek laid out the methodology and multi prototype procedure paving the way for a new approach in bicycle electrification. On the technical side, he was responsible for the electric powertrain, sensing system and its software and analytics.
As part of the core team, Simon Schmalfuss oversaw the structural and thermal analyzations and optimizations. He was responsible for the overall packaging and construction as well as for the mounting system – enhancing the usability of ease.
Claas Ehmke spearheaded the enhancement of pedal detection and more precise motor control to make ease smarter. He also developed a new electrical concept for better functionality in an optimised, well-designed case.
Thanks to Rahul Gujarathi, we were able to turn ease into a well-designed product. His experience in industrial design, materials, finishes and usability helped achieve the end result.
